Kathryn did not turn from the window when the door opened. She knew there was nobody there. “Hello, Chakotay,” she whispered softly. “Come to check on me again? I’m fine, honest. I just miss you. Nothing serious.” She felt herself surrounded by invisible arms, an unseen chin rested on her shoulder. “I said, nothing serious,” she chided. The arms held her tighter as if to prove otherwise. “All right,” she laughed. “It is serious. I didn’t want you to go on that mission and get killed, you know.” She leaned back into his embrace. “Thank you for not leaving me.”
